Manchester United coach Eric Ten Hag confirmed his team’s readiness ahead of their Premier League match against Everton on Saturday.
Ten Hag revealed that left-back Luke Shaw will not play due to injury, while midfielder Christian Eriksen has recovered and will be included in the squad.
“Shaw will not play. We will see how it goes next week, but the good news is that Eriksen is back and will be in the squad. It was a serious injury. He is recovering faster than we thought, so that makes us happy,” said Ten Hag.
After defeating Brentford 1-0 in their previous game, Manchester United has reclaimed their place in the top four of the Premier League. However, they still have to face tough battles to secure a spot in the Champions League.
According to Ten Hag, players must show “will and passion” in every match, adding that consistency is the key to success.
“You have to show that will and passion every match. That has to be the standard, that’s the responsibility you have when you play for Manchester United. It is about requirements, culture, standards, it is constantly repeated. A player who fights for trophies in the Premier League must always do so and be consistent. Our job is to bring that mentality back,” he said.
On the other hand, Everton is fighting for survival in the league, and Manchester United will have to counter their physical strength and preparedness.
“Sean Dyche is doing an excellent job as a manager. His team is ready, they are physically excellent. We have to counter that,” Ten Hag concluded.
