SHEARER STATED AFTER HAALAND'S GOAL: My record broken after 28 years, it's the best

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland broke yesterday the record of Alan Shearer and Andy Cole, who until then were at the top for the number of goals in one season of the Premier League.

The Norwegian doubled Manchester City’s advantage against West Ham in the 70th minute and thus reached his 35th goal of the season, breaking the record of Shearer and Cole, who were at the top until now with 34 goals each.

There are still five rounds left in the Premier League until the end of the season, so the Norwegian can improve his goalscoring performance.

“This record could not have been set by a better guy. It only took 28 years. He is the best,” Alan Shearer commented on Haaland’s goal.

Although the Newcastle legend, the Englishman set this record as a Blackburn Rovers player in the 1992/93 season, while the season after that Magpie striker Andy Cole equaled the top scorer in the Premier League.

He played 63 games for the England national team and scored 30 goals.
