AS Roma strengthened their place in the Serie A top four with a comfortable 3-0 win at home against Cremonese. The result also extended Cremonese’s poor run in the league to 12 matches without a win.
Roma, who have beaten every newly promoted side they have faced this season, started brightly. They controlled possession early on, but clear chances were limited. Cremonese nearly scored an own goal when Sebastiano Luperto headed just wide of his own net.
After a quiet first 30 minutes, Roma increased the pressure. Gianluca Mancini hit the crossbar with a header from Bryan Zaragoza’s cross. Roma kept pushing before half-time, but Cremonese defended well and the match remained goalless at the break.
Roma began the second half strongly, just as they had the first. Donyell Malen had a shot saved at the near post by Emil Audero. However, the breakthrough soon arrived. Just before the hour mark, Bryan Cristante scored with a superb header from Lorenzo Pellegrini’s corner.
Roma grew in confidence after taking the lead. Audero made good saves to deny Evan Ndicka, while Malen shot wide from a good position. The second goal came in the 77th minute. Cristante flicked on another corner, this time from Neil El Aynaoui, and Ndicka finished well to score his first-ever Serie A goal.
The game was effectively over after that. Substitute Niccolò Pisilli added a third goal late on with an excellent first-time finish into the far corner.
The win moves Roma level on points with third-placed Napoli. Cremonese, meanwhile, remain just three points above the relegation zone and have only scored in two of their last 12 league matches.
