Napoli extended their lead atop Serie A to seven points with a decisive 2-0 victory over Milan, thanks to first-half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. The win marks Napoli’s ninth consecutive unbeaten league match since their opening loss to Verona.
Lukaku wasted no time, netting in the fifth minute after a pinpoint through-ball from Frank Anguissa allowed him to fire past Milan’s defense. Despite pressure from Milan, with close attempts by Yunus Musah and Samuel Chukwueze and a strong header from Ruben Loftus-Cheek that tested Napoli’s goalkeeper Alex Meret, the visitors held firm.
Napoli nearly had a second when Scott McTominay’s powerful strike from outside the box forced a save from Milan’s keeper Mike Maignan. Soon after, Mathías Olivera found Kvaratskhelia on the edge of the area, where the Georgian winger struck a stunning shot into the top corner, doubling Napoli’s lead just before halftime.
Milan thought they’d cut the deficit early in the second half when Álvaro Morata found the net, but VAR ruled the effort offside, solidifying Napoli’s commanding win.
