Weston McKennie has signed a new four-year contract with Juventus, ending speculation about his future.
The United States international’s previous deal was due to expire in June, meaning he could have spoken to other clubs. However, he has decided to stay in Turin until at least 2030.
McKennie has become an important player under coach Luciano Spalletti. Since last year’s Club World Cup, no Juventus player has made more appearances than him (38), and only Pierre Kalulu has played more minutes.
During that time, McKennie has scored eight goals and provided five assists. Only Kenan Yildiz has better numbers in both categories.
Although naturally a midfielder, McKennie has mainly played at right-back this season. He has also featured in central midfield, on the wing, at left-back, as a number 10, and even as a striker.
Juventus are currently sixth in Serie A, four points outside the top four with 11 matches remaining. They have already been knocked out of the Champions League after losing to Galatasaray in the play-offs.
