Juventus eye Tomori transfer, but Milan demand €30 million

Juventus are targeting AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori as they seek to strengthen their depleted defensive line. Talks are expected to intensify when the two clubs meet in Riyadh for the Italian Super Cup semi-final, with Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli set to engage with Milan officials.

The Bianconeri are in urgent need of a central defender following injuries to Bremer and Cabal, leaving their backline severely weakened. Tomori, who has fallen out of favour at Milan and is reportedly at odds with coach Paulo Fonseca, has emerged as a prime target.

However, the deal is far from straightforward. Milan are asking for around €30 million for the English centre-back, partly due to interest from Newcastle United, whose financial power could drive up the price. Additionally, Milan are wary of strengthening a direct rival in the race for Champions League qualification, a move that could further strain relations with their fanbase.

Juventus are currently proposing a loan deal with an obligation to buy for no more than €15 million, a figure well below Milan’s valuation. Meanwhile, selling Tomori would leave Milan short at the back, with only Gabbia, Thiaw, and Pavlovic available for a demanding season. Milan would need to secure a replacement, which could prove costly.

While discussions in Riyadh are expected to explore the potential transfer, both sides have contingency plans. Juventus are considering Antonio Silva as an alternative, while Milan are monitoring the market to address Tomori’s potential departure.

Although the deal remains possible, significant obstacles must be overcome before an agreement is reached. Both clubs will need to carefully navigate financial and sporting priorities to make the transfer a reality.
