After dropping points for the first time this Serie A season, Juventus seek an immediate response in Turin against an Atalanta side riding back-to-back league wins.
The Bianconeri opened the campaign with three straight victories but have since stumbled to consecutive draws across all competitions, the most recent a frustrating one-all draw at Hellas Verona. Defensive frailties have crept in, with eight goals conceded across their last three outings, yet a ten-point haul still matches their best domestic start since the 2018-2019 season.
Home form offers reassurance. Juventus have won each of their last six league matches at the Allianz Stadium, and a seventh would equal their longest run since March 2021. The challenge is substantial, not least because Atalanta return to Turin buoyed by a clinical three-nil win at Torino that extended their unbeaten league start under Ivan Juric. This will be La Dea’s third successive away assignment, a sequence that began with a heavy defeat to Paris Saint-Germain, but that remains their only loss in six road trips, with four wins and a draw in that span.
Recent history tilts slightly towards the visitors. Atalanta are unbeaten in the last four Serie A head-to-heads and have lost only one of the last eleven league meetings with Juventus. Last season’s corresponding fixture ended in a resounding four-nil away success and formed part of a seven-match unbeaten run for Atalanta on Juventus soil.
There should be goals if the season’s early patterns hold. Juventus have scored at least twice in each of their last six home matches and are one of only two sides to have opened the scoring in all four of their league games so far. Atalanta, for their part, have not conceded before the eightieth minute on their Serie A travels this term and have scored three or more goals in six of their last nine away league fixtures.
Individual quality could tip a tight contest. Francisco Conceicao’s sharp starts for Juventus have yielded early breakthroughs, but the onus will be on the home defence to limit transition moments. Ademola Lookman’s return gives Atalanta a late-game threat, with six of his last eight club goals arriving after the interval, including the final strike in this fixture last season. Juventus expect Fabio Miretti to be close to involvement, while Atalanta continues without Gianluca Scamacca and Giorgio Scalvini.
With both teams carrying significant attacking threats and Juventus showing recent vulnerability at the back, an open encounter feels likely. The balance of form points to goals at both ends, so a score of over two and a half goals is a logical angle, and a high-tempo draw would not be surprising.
