AC Milan have confirmed the signing of Adrien Rabiot from Olympique Marseille on the final day of the summer transfer window.
Throughout the summer, there were strong rumours that manager Massimiliano Allegri wanted to bring the French midfielder back to Serie A. Rabiot had been an important player for Allegri at Juventus, and the coach was keen to work with him again.
At first, the move seemed unlikely. However, a problem inside the Marseille dressing room helped move things forward. Talks picked up speed over the weekend, and by deadline day, a deal was close.
Football journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Milan had agreed to sign Rabiot for €10 million. The player completed his medical in France, with a Milan representative present. He has signed a three-year deal, with the option for a fourth.
AC Milan later published the following statement on their website:
“AC Milan announces the acquisition of Adrien Rabiot from Olympique Marseille. The French midfielder has signed a contract with the Rossoneri until 30 June 2028.”
With Rabiot arriving, and considering Ardon Jashari’s injury and Yunus Musah’s departure, Milan’s midfield looks much stronger. The move also shows the club is backing Allegri in the transfer market, something that had been in doubt earlier in the summer.
