Real continued to attack and managed to score a final goal in stoppage time, with reserve player Asensio securing the victory for the “royal club” with a final score of 3:1.
With this win, Real Madrid closed the gap on Barcelona to just six points with a game in hand. The next round will see the two rivals play another El Clasico, which could determine the outcome of the championship race.
Meanwhile, Espanyol remained in 13th place with 27 points, only two points ahead of Almeria, who are in the relegation zone.
