Serbian football coach Dragan Stojkovic Piksi spoke at the official press conference before tomorrow’s match of the 2nd round of qualification for EURO 2024 against Montenegro
Dragan Stojkovic Piksi is in Podgorica for the first time in the role of Serbian football coach. He points out that he spoke only with his friend, the first man of Montenegrin football – Dejan Savicević. He gave us part of the conversation…
“I feel beautiful, as always. I am here for the first time in this role and I have an opponent called Montenegro, but that changes absolutely nothing. Lots of friends, lots of famous people, nice weather and a wonderful atmosphere. I spoke with Deja a few days ago and today, nothing spectacular. We talked about football, about other things, that Hotel Crna Gora changed its name to Hilton, and we liked Crna Gora better,” Piksi laughed at those present in the media hall of the City Stadium in Podgorica.
The legendary footballer of Yugoslavia was in a good mood at the conference…
“I don’t think there are any secrets, neither us, nor when it comes to them. We saw off the match against Bulgaria, an important victory for Montenegro. I know that there is no Marko Janković, who is a great player, it’s a pity that he is injured. I was only scared when I saw Savićević in the team, I thought that Dejo had returned to the field, but luckily it was the younger Savicevic. In general, a good quality team, it should not be underestimated, the Dutch felt that. I appreciate them a lot, they have quality players, the analysis we had will give us some guidelines for tomorrow’s game”, Piksi is cautious before the duel with Montenegro.
The coach of Serbia also spoke about the injury of Filip Kostic, who felt pain in his Achilles tendon after the triumph over Lithuania.
“Bad news for us. He left the team yesterday. It is inflammation of the Achilles tendon. It was pointless to take any risk, the decision was to return to the club, so he will not be in the combination for the game tomorrow”. – Piksi added
The head coach of Montenegro Miodrag Radulovic and the commander of our defense Stefan Savic pointed out earlier that they expect a real sports spectacle, Piksi is of the same opinion.
“There will be 11 thousand people. We expect a great atmosphere, because the stadium has a small capacity and will be filled to capacity, and it should be that way. These are qualifiers, important matches. Every match carries importance, points have full weight and importance. I expect my team to be the best on the field, to win points, because the goal we set for ourselves requires a points balance. In general, it will be a very high-quality, exciting, competitive match, but I believe that my boys can carry that burden. To play as we know and can. I expect the best”.
The duel at the stadium under Gorica will be played on Monday until 20:45.
