Herve Renard caught the attention of Nice and the world football public after Saudi Arabia’s victory against Argentina in the first round of the World Cup in Qatar.
The referees played a great match against, as it turned out later, the world champion, led in a masterly manner by a charismatic coach. Renard achieved his greatest coaching successes on the bench of Zambia and Ivory Coast, with whom he was the champion of Africa.
When it comes to clubs, he didn’t have much success leading Sochaux and Lille, but according to the French “Le Equip”, he could get a chance in French Nice, which was recently left without a coach.
Lucien Favre managed with the French club to pass the Conference League group, which also included Partizan from Belgrade, but poor results in the domestic championship contributed to the split between the coach and the club.
The problem could be the contract between Renard and Saudi Arabia, which expires in 2027.
It remains to be seen how the situation unfolds, and the 54-year-old coach was also mentioned as a candidate for the Belgium coach.
