Luka Modric signed a new one-year contract with Real Madrid, so he will be the team’s second captain next season as well, the HINA agency was told.
Modric stayed at the club’s camp and attended the farewell media conference of captain Karim Benzema, who left for Saudi Al Ittihad.
The Croatian will turn 38 in September and will be Real’s oldest player. He won 23 trophies with the royal club, since the summer of 2012 when he arrived at the club.
In the next season, Luka will have the opportunity to overtake Benzema and Marcelo, who won 25 trophies with Real, which is the most in the club’s long history of 121.
