The manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola, said at the press conference before the trip to Istanbul that everyone who underestimates Inter is wrong.
Guardiola praised the team led by Simone Inzagi from the bench.
“A top team is waiting for us and it will be a very difficult final. I’m grateful for what the players have done so far, but the final is a completely different game. We have to understand which and what kind of match we are playing, it is not easy to overcome Inter’s defensive mechanism. We have to impose our own pace but also be patient,’ said Guardiola.
“Everyone who underestimates Inter is wrong because they are a team that is used to controlling matches in Italy, and we will also have to defend very well. I am an optimist, but at the same time I am aware of the difficulties that await us and the quality of our opponents. They defend well, and they are great in transition and counterattacks,’ added Pep.
Despite everything, the “Citizen” manager hopes for a positive result and winning the “triple crown” after celebrating in the Premier League and the FA Cup.
“This is the last match of the season and we have to play it to the best of our ability, we have to win,” Guardiola concluded.
The final of the Champions League is played at the Ataturk Stadium in Istanbul.
