MLS: Goal from a record distance (VIDEO)

A fantastic goal in the American MLS was scored from over 50 meters.

A rarely-seen goal was scored in a match between Charlotte and the Columbus Crew. By the way, this match started two months ago, but it was stopped in the 16th minute due to weather conditions. It ended last night, in the end with a score of 2:2 and a goal that will go down in history.

The goal scorer is the Armenian national team member Lucas Zelarayan, who was born in Cordoba, Argentina. The 30-year-old offensive midfielder hit the net from a free kick from 51 meters away! He masterfully defeated Kristijan Kahlina, the Croatian goalkeeper who wore the jersey of Slovenian Gorica.

Official data shows that the goal was scored from a record distance since MLS statistics have been kept, i.e. since 2010.

The previous record holder was Jamie Smith, who shot from 47.5 meters in 2011 and hit the net.
