The team is currently collaborating with all parties involved to officially welcome the Italian coach and his team to the OM bench, and make necessary arrangements for their arrival in Marseille within the next few days.

De Zerbi takes over from Jean-Louis Gasset, who was the final of three coaches hired by Marseille last season as they struggled to secure a third place position in the standings.

In September 2022, the Italian gained recognition at Brighton when he took over from Graham Potter. He guided the team to their best ever position of sixth in the top division and later secured them a spot in the Europa League.
