Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, paid an official visit to the Malta Football Association’s Headquarters on Wednesday, as part of the Association’s ongoing celebrations for its 125th anniversary.
The President was welcomed at the Ta’ Qali Football Complex by Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo and top officials. During the visit, discussions were held around upcoming initiatives and events planned for the commemorative year. President Spiteri Debono also toured the Malta Football Museum, gaining insight into the nation’s footballing legacy.

A highlight of the day was Her Excellency’s meetings with the Malta Women’s National Team and the Malta Boys Under-17 Team, who recently achieved excellent results.
President Vassallo described the visit as an honour, underscoring the Malta FA’s long-standing commitment to unity, inclusion, and community engagement through football.
“The Malta FA is proud to celebrate 125 years of history built on values, opportunities, and community,” said Vassallo.
In her address, President Spiteri Debono praised the Association’s efforts in promoting sport, education, and inclusivity, and highlighted its role in shaping Malta’s social and cultural identity through football.
“The Malta FA’s work should be a model for other sporting associations,” she remarked, commending their outreach in schools and communities.
The visit was a symbolic and significant moment in the Malta FA’s anniversary year—one that reinforces the strong ties between sport, culture, and national identity.
