Birkirkara are holding talks with Gilbert Agius and Mario Muscat as they move quickly to appoint a new head coach. Sources indicate Agius has been offered a one-year contract; the former Valletta player and coach is considered the front-runner at this stage.
Birkirkara have also approached Mario Muscat, but any move is complicated by his current deal with Mosta FC. Mosta are understood to be unwilling to release their coach at the moment, meaning terms would need to be agreed between the clubs before negotiations could progress. While Muscat is open to the switch, the pathway appears difficult for now.
A decision is expected in the coming hours, following the dismissal of Stefano De Angelis, who opened the campaign with back-to-back 0–0 draws against Valletta and Gżira United on matchdays one and two. The Stripes are aiming for a swift appointment to stabilise results and set a clear direction for the weeks ahead.
