Karim Benzema: My dream came true

The French footballer, who will turn 35 in December, Karim Benzema, won the Ballon d’Or last night and said that age is just a number.

The great striker of Real Madrid is the oldest winner of this award since Stanley Matthews, who won this award in 1956 at the age of 41.

Karim Benzema stated that winning this award has always been his dream, as well as that age is just a number, what matters is how you feel.

“Years are just a number for me because I still have a burning desire for football, and that’s what pushes me forward,” said Karim after winning the most prestigious individual award in football.

He also looked back on a difficult period, when due to a scandal with his teammate from the national team, Valbuena, he received a suspension and did not play for France.

“The most difficult period in my career was when I did not receive invitations to perform for my country. However, I never gave up, I worked hard, and here I am, here I am, never happier. I would like to thank my teammates from Real, as well as from the French national team, for enabling me to win this award. It has an individual character, but the most important thing for winning it is the team for which the player performs,’ Karim Benzema finished his presentation.

Immediately behind him was the former Liverpool player, now a member of Bayern, the Senegalese Sadio Mane, then Kevin de Bruyne, while the fourth place was taken by Robert Lewandowski.
