The football associations of Italy and Turkey have requested that their individual bids to host the European Championship in 2032 be merged into a joint bid, the European Football Union (UEFA) announced today.
In 2021, UEFA launched the bidding process for hosting the European Championships in 2028 and 2032.
The Turkish Football Association entered the process for both tournaments, while Italy decided to bid only for the 2032 edition.
As UEFA announced today, Turkey and Italy have now decided to merge their bids.
UEFA said it will work with the two football associations to ensure their joint bid meets all requirements.
If the joint offer meets all the requirements, it will be submitted to the UEFA Executive Committee at a meeting scheduled for October 10, when it will be decided who will host the European championships in both 2028 and 2032.
England, Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland and Wales are also competing for the European Championship in 2028.
The next European Football Championship will be held in Germany in 2024.
