The players of Switzerland opened the World Cup in the best possible way – they defeated Cameroon 1:0, and the scorer was Breel Embolo.
Breel Embolo, a native Cameroonian in Switzerland, defeated the Cameroon national team in Qatar, it was 1:0. The talented 25-year-old striker scored the first goal at the World Cup, and the Swiss made a great prelude to the 2nd round of the group stage, i.e. the duel with Brazil.
“I am proud. I made a dream come true. I congratulate the team, we showed a mature performance. It was difficult in the first 30 minutes, we made a few mistakes, but in the rest, we performed much better. We managed to implement what we talked about during the break, created chances and deservedly celebrated,” said Embolo.
The football player of Switzerland also had a message for the soccer players who represent the country where he was born.
“Cameroon is of exceptional quality, we proved to be a strong rival and I congratulate them on that. I wish them all the best”, concluded Embolo.
