Hamrun Amateurs crowned MAFA Third Division champions

Hamrun Amateurs were crowned as the MAFA Third Division champions after recording the biggest score of the season when they beat Mosta Vikings 12-1.

The Red/Blacks were trailing after only 10 minutes when Alaa Abedalbaki took advantage of a quick counter attack to slot the ball behind Ħamrun goalkeeper Jean Paul Cachia.

It didn’t take long for Hamrun to react and they equalized the score two minutes later through Charlo Debattista. The latter scored two more goals in one minute between the 28th and 29th minutes with Joyfred Farrugia closing the first half 4-1 up.

The second half there was a Ħamrun monologue who scored another eight goals after a Charlton Mifsud’s hat-trick a double by Hajy Semu Maher and other goals by Josef Zammit, Jacob Camilleri and Charlo Debattista.

At the end of the match, the Hamrun celebrations could begin which reached their climax when the MAFA president Salvu Borg presented the cup to Ħamrun Amateurs captain Larkin Portelli.
