FIFA has announced that football agents and brokers earned US$494.4m (around €490.5m or £430.8m) in the summer transfer window.
FIFA also announced that this year saw a record number of male and female player transfers worldwide.
Women’s football is attracting more and more attention and therefore transfers. As many as 684 international transfers of soccer players were made during the summer, which is an increase of 14.4% compared to last year. However, football player transfers are still far larger and more numerous. During the summer, 9717 registered transfers were recorded, which is an increase of 16.2% compared to 2021.
It is noticeable that the transfers were much higher than 12 months earlier. The total value of this year’s transfer window for football players of five billion dollars (4.96 billion euros) increased by as much as 29.7 percent compared to last year.
The largest number of transfers and the largest sums of money were realized in the Premier League of England, a record 2.2 billion euros.
It was also reported that the football agents together paid almost 10 percent of the total transfer value of the players. The report showed that the ratio of agent fees to transfer fees during the registration period has increased over the past 10 years from 6.1 percent to 9.9 percent.
Chelsea and Manchester United spent the most money on new players. The transfer of the Brazilian Antonio from Ajax to Manchester United for 100 million euros (95 million fixed, plus five million in bonuses) is a record transfer made on the last day of the transfer window ever.
