Barcelona and Manchester United have mostly agreed on a loan move for Marcus Rashford. The deal would allow Barcelona to take Rashford on loan first, with an option to buy him later. Talks are still happening about how much of his wages Barcelona will pay and what would happen if they decide not to buy him.
Earlier this summer, Rashford said he wanted to play for Barcelona. When asked if he would like to play with young star Lamine Yamal, he said yes, adding that everyone wants to play with the best players.
The move has the approval of Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick, who spoke to Rashford about it.
Manchester United have done similar loan deals before, like when Jadon Sancho went on loan to Borussia Dortmund and then to Chelsea. United even made money from Sancho’s wages because of the way the deals were set up. They also received a £5 million penalty from Chelsea recently when Chelsea didn’t buy Sancho as agreed.
Juventus have also shown interest in Rashford. They asked about the possibility of signing him because they are uncertain about the future of their striker Dusan Vlahovic. Their main target has been Randal Kolo Muani, but if Vlahovic leaves, they might try to sign another forward like Rashford.
Former Manchester United player Teddy Sheringham criticised Rashford’s situation. He said it was “soul-destroying” and felt Rashford does not deserve to move to Barcelona. Sheringham said players should appreciate playing for a big club like United and not want to leave.

He compared Rashford’s attitude to that of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang when he wanted to leave Arsenal. Sheringham hopes Rashford does not get the move he wants and said moving from Manchester United to Barcelona is a step up that Rashford hasn’t earned.
