France and Germany will face each other in the quarter-finals of the 2025 UEFA Women’s European Championship. France are hoping to win the tournament for the first time, while Germany are aiming for their ninth title.
France have reached the quarter-finals for the fourth tournament in a row. They won all three of their group games and scored 11 goals in total. In their last match, they came from behind to beat the Netherlands 5-2, which extended their winning run in 2025 to 11 matches. However, getting to the semi-finals again won’t be easy. France have been knocked out at this stage three times in four previous attempts. Interestingly, three of those games were level after 90 minutes, so this one could also go the distance.

Germany lost their final group game 4-1, but still managed to qualify after winning their first two matches. Like France, they’ve also reached the quarter-finals four times before, and they progressed on three of those occasions. None of those games went to extra time or penalties. The last time was in 2022, when they beat Austria 2-0 in the quarter-finals and then defeated France 2-1 in the semi-finals. France will be looking to get revenge this time.

In past meetings at the Euros, Germany have won all three matches against France, all in normal time. Overall, Germany have a better record in this fixture with 13 wins, 4 draws and 6 losses.
France have been strong in attack during the group stage, with only Spain scoring more goals. France have had 22 shots on target so far, averaging over seven per game. Germany’s recent matches have mostly been decided by two goals or more, with seven of their last eight ending that way. Only one of Germany’s last 13 games had fewer than three goals.
For France, Delphine Cascarino has been a standout player. She’s been involved in four of their 11 goals, scoring twice and assisting twice. She’s also made an assist in each of her last three appearances. Germany’s Jule Brand has had five shots on target during the tournament so far and has been involved in goals in seven straight matches for club and country.
France have no major injuries, but Germany will be without Carlotta Wamser, who was sent off in their last group match.
