Manchester City look to build confidence against struggling West Ham

Manchester City returned to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over struggling Leicester City. Despite the win, Pep Guardiola’s side was far from their best. However, a home game against West Ham, a team they’ve won 14 out of the last 15 Premier League home games against, should boost their confidence.

City also have a strong record of winning 17 of their last 18 league games in the new year, including their last 12 matches. However, this streak could be in danger, as City have won only one of their last five home matches, conceding ten goals in those games.

West Ham will be hoping to take advantage of City’s poor home form, especially after their heavy 5-0 defeat to Liverpool in their last match. Manager Julen Lopetegui is under intense pressure, with many bookmakers naming him as the favourite to be the next Premier League manager to lose his job.

West Ham are winless in 18 Premier League meetings with City since 2015, and this is their longest ever winless streak against any opponent in the league. The team will also need to improve defensively, as they conceded the most goals in the Premier League in 2024 if they hope to get a positive result here.
