Liverpool forward Diogo Jota dies in car accident

Liverpool star Diogo Jota has died in a car accident in northern Spain at the age of 28. The crash happened only two weeks after he married his childhood sweetheart, Rute Cardoso, with whom he had three children.

Jota was believed to be travelling with his brother Andre, also a footballer aged 26, who is feared to have died in the accident too.

The crash took place on the A-52 road in Zamora province, Spain, a common route for people leaving northern Portugal.

Emergency services confirmed two people died at the scene after the car caught fire.
