Manchester United moved up to sixth in the Premier League after a convincing 4-1 win away at bottom-of-the-table Wolves, extending their unbeaten run on the road to five league matches.
Wolves, stuck at the bottom with only two points from their first 14 games, started brightly. Diogo Dalot and Bryan Mbeumo both forced good saves from Sam Johnstone. But United scored first in the 25th minute when Casemiro won the ball in midfield and fed former Wolves player Matheus Cunha, who set up Bruno Fernandes to bundle the ball in from close range.
United nearly doubled their lead soon after, only for Toti Gomes to clear Cunha’s effort off the line. Wolves then equalised right before half-time when David Møller Wolfe pulled the ball back for Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, who finished well into the far corner—Wolves’ first goal since October.
The second half started much like the first, and United quickly regained control. Dalot broke through the Wolves defence and squared the ball for Mbeumo to tap in and make it 2–1. A little after the hour mark, Fernandes delivered a perfect cross for Mason Mount, who volleyed in United’s third.
With about 20 minutes left, United continued to dominate. After missed chances from Cunha and Amad Diallo, the visitors were awarded a penalty for handball by Yerson Mosquera. Fernandes calmly scored from the spot to secure the win and hand Wolves their eighth straight league defeat. They are already guaranteed to be bottom at Christmas.
