Leeds United and Manchester United played out an entertaining 1-1 draw at Elland Road, as Daniel Farke avoided defeat against United for the first time in his managerial career. The result extended Leeds’ unbeaten run to seven Premier League matches.
The match was played in a lively atmosphere, with Leeds starting brightly. Manchester United thought they had taken an early lead through Matheus Cunha, but the goal was ruled out for offside. Chances were limited in a tight midfield battle, although Leeds came close when Dominic Calvert-Lewin glanced a header against the post from Anton Stach’s cross.
Manchester United created the better chances before the break, with Lucas Perri making an excellent save to deny Leny Yoro. Cunha and Patrick Dorgu also went close, but Leeds reached half-time without managing a shot on target.
The second half followed a similar pattern, with few clear openings. Leeds finally broke the deadlock when Brenden Aaronson reacted quickest to a loose ball and calmly scored at Elland Road. United responded almost immediately, as substitute Joshua Zirkzee set up Cunha, who equalised with a low shot.
Both sides pushed for a winner late on, with Cunha hitting the post for United and Joël Piroe going close for Leeds, but neither could find a decisive goal. The draw leaves Leeds eight points clear of the relegation zone, while Manchester United missed the chance to move into the top four.
