Spanish authorities have indicated that Diogo Jota was likely behind the wheel during the fatal car accident that claimed his life and that of his brother, André Silva, last week.
The Liverpool forward and father of three died alongside his brother—also a footballer—after the Lamborghini Huracán they were travelling in caught fire, reportedly following a tyre blowout. The incident occurred last Thursday night in Zamora, Spain.

According to a spokesperson from the Guardia Civil in Zamora, preliminary findings from their traffic unit suggest Jota was driving at the time of the crash. The car, a £180,000 acid-green Lamborghini, is believed to have been travelling over the area’s speed limit of 120 km/h (approximately 74 mph), according to local reports.
In its second official comment since the tragic event, the Guardia Civil noted: “An expert report is being finalised, which includes analysis of various elements, such as the tyre marks left on the road by one of the vehicle’s wheels.”
