Choupo-Moting is uncertain for the Champions League quarterfinals

Bayern Munich football coach Thomas Tuchel said today that Cameroon striker Eric Maxim Choupo Moting will miss the upcoming match against Freiburg, and that he is uncertain for the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals due to a knee injury.

“There is little time for him to recover before the match with Manchester City,” said Tuchel at the press conference.

Choupo Moting came to the fore this season after the departure of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski to Barcelona.

For Bayern, the 34-year-old scored 17 goals in 28 games this season, including one against Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 of the Champions League.

Choupo Moting was injured during the German Cup quarter-final against Freiburg, and left the field in the 64th minute on Tuesday. Freiburg eliminated Bayern 2:1 with a goal in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

On Saturday, Bayern again expects a match against Freiburg (3:30 p.m.), this time on the road in the Bundesliga, and then on April 11 they visit Manchester City in the first match of the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

For the weekend, the Bavarian team will not be able to count on 17-year-old Mathis Tel, defender Dayot Upamecano (yellow cards), while goalkeeper Manuel Neuer and defender Lucas Hernandez have been out of action for a long time.

After 26 games played in the Bundesliga, Bayern is in first place with 55 points, while second place is Borussia Dortmund with two points less.
