Liverpool football coach Jürgen Klopp said today that his team must show “reaction and progress” in the duel against Arsenal, as well as that the support of the audience will be of great importance.
“I don’t know what exactly you can say about us at this point, so that speaks to the situation. We are playing at Anfield, we are at home, and we have to show reaction and progress,” Klopp said, as reported by the English media.
The Liverpool players will welcome Arsenal on Sunday, in the match of the 30th round of the Premier League.
Arsenal is the leading team of the Premier League with 72 points, i.e. they have eight more than second-placed Manchester City, who have a game in hand. Liverpool is eighth with 43 points.
Liverpool previously played a 0:0 draw with Chelsea in London in the last match of the eighth round, and Klopp pointed out that the team is not at the highest level of confidence, after they did not win in the last four matches.
“We have to help the players in different things, and in a home game, the crowd can be a big boost,” added the German coach.
Klopp also spoke about the health situation in the team.
“Virgil (Van Dijk) has returned to training. Luis (Diaz) and Thiago (Alcantara) are training. The plan with Lewis is that he will be 100 percent fit for Leeds. He was injured for a long time, so we will be careful. He probably won’t be there on Sunday. It’s a little different with Tiago. He trained three times and may be in the competition,” he said.
The Liverpool coach praised Arsenal’s head of staff Mikel Arteta and pointed out that he is doing an “impressive job”.
“Mikel has been building for several years and the result is impressive. It is a mixture of good football and extreme emotions. It’s a good way to play,” Klopp said.
The match between Liverpool and Arsenal will be played on Sunday at 17.30.
