Celebrations are in full swing this week as the Inter Supporters Club of Gozo marks its 10th anniversary with a star-studded weekend, featuring a special guest appearance by legendary Brazilian footballer Maicon Douglas Sisenando.
Maicon, a key player in Inter Milan’s historic 2009–2010 treble-winning season, will be joined by Stefania Marchionna, who held the honorary title la madrina dell’Inter in 2021. Their visit to the Maltese islands is being hailed as a major milestone for local football fans and Interisti alike.
Announcing the events, the Gozo Inter Club president, Joe Bajada, said it was only fitting that Maicon, a celebrated former Brazilian international, would headline the festivities. “It is a great honour to welcome a player of Maicon’s calibre to Gozo,” Bajada said.
Maicon’s accolades are extensive. In addition to his achievements with Inter Milan, including four Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia victories, three Italian Super Cups, the 2010 UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup, he also secured major honours with Brazil, winning two FIFA Confederations Cups (2005 in Germany and 2009 in South Africa) and two Copa América titles (2004 in Peru and 2007 in Venezuela).

The highlight of the weekend celebrations will be a Gala Dinner on Saturday, 10 May 2025, at the Grand Hotel in Mġarr, Gozo, starting at 7:30 pm. In addition to the dinner, Maicon will also lead a special training session for Gozo’s Under-13 boys at the Gozo Stadium, offering local young players a unique opportunity to learn from one of football’s most experienced defenders.
President Bajada expressed his heartfelt thanks to Visit Gozo, Visit Malta, the Grand Hotel, and Gozo Frank Travel for their support in making this landmark visit possible.
