A first-half header from Artem Dovbyk gave Roma a much-needed 1–0 win against Fiorentina in Serie A. The result extends Roma’s unbeaten home run against La Viola to seven matches and puts them four points ahead of their rivals in the table.
With just one point separating the teams before kick-off—and Bologna set to face Juventus later—it was a key match in the race for European places. Roma started brightly, with plenty of energy both on the pitch and from the fans, but Fiorentina held firm. Lorenzo Pellegrini had two early efforts, but neither hit the target.
Fiorentina grew into the game and had two big chances through Moise Kean, but Roma keeper Mile Svilar made two smart saves to keep it level. At the other end, David de Gea kept out efforts from Çelik and Shomurodov, but he couldn’t stop the opener just before half-time. Angeliño whipped in a fast cross, Shomurodov flicked it on, and Dovbyk nodded it in to make it 1–0.
Fiorentina pushed hard in the second half. De Gea had to save from Manu Koné, and Richardson went close too. Zaniolo and Parisi both missed the target, and Svilar made another big stop from Mandragora. Late on, Kean had more chances, but Svilar stayed strong to protect Roma’s lead.
The win means Roma are now unbeaten in 19 straight league games and move up to fourth place for now. Fiorentina drop to eighth after two losses in four days but will hope to bounce back on Thursday when they play Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League.
