Union Berlin have parted ways with coach Bo Svensson and his staff, the Bundesliga club announced on Friday, following a poor run of results. The team has not won in over two months and, after losing five of their last seven Bundesliga matches, are in 12th place with 17 points from 15 games.
“After carefully reviewing the season so far, we believe that a major change is needed to turn things around,” said Managing Director Horst Heldt in a club statement.
“We have therefore decided to end our cooperation with Bo Svensson, Babak Keyhanfar, Kristoffer Wichmann, and Tijan Njie.”
A decision on the new coaching team, who will take over on the 2nd of January, will be made in the coming days, the statement added.
Union, who lost 4-1 at Werder Bremen in their last match, will next play at Heidenheim on 11th January.
