Following an action-packed period earlier this month with the World Cup held in Malta, the Malta Blackball Federation has continued its busy season and is now in the midst of the second qualifying tournament for the Nations Cup 2025.
On Wednesday, the Men’s semifinals will take place, with Clint Azzopardi set to face Clayton Castaldi, while Alessio Magro will compete against Leon Azzopardi. The final will be held tomorrow at 7:30 PM.
The Senior category final will also take place tomorrow, where Duncan Edwards will meet Lee Grima. Edwards reached this stage after a thrilling 9-8 victory over Joseph Tabone, while Grima triumphed 9-4 over Cajetan Fauzza.
In the Masters 50+ category, Antoine Aquilina has already secured his place in the final after defeating Jason Mangion 8-5. He will await the winner of tonight’s semifinal between Brian Grech and Jesmond Schembri.
In the Under-23 category, the finalists are set, with Casdy Vella facing Matthias Debono tomorrow. Vella won 8-5 against Chaylon Castaldi, while Debono triumphed 8-2 over Neil Caruana in the other semifinal.
Lastly, the Under-15 tournament final, scheduled for tomorrow, will see Jake Castaldi go up against Denzel Falzon. Castaldi advanced after an 8-5 win over Dielyn Edwards, while Falzon secured his spot with an 8-5 victory over Shazen Ciantar.
