The World Blackball Championships are highly anticipated, with particular excitement surrounding the participation of two Maltese players in the finals int the last day of the competittion.
At 2.30pm, Lydan Debono will compete in the men’s individual final against Dean Shields, while simultaneously Jake Castaldi will face Cohen Bradford in the crucial under 15 individual category.
The games continued yesterday with multiple Maltese teams in action. The men’s team played four matches, securing victories of 17-8 against Belgium and 19-5 against Australia, but suffering losses of 14-11 against Wales and 13-12 against Catalonia.
The Maltese women also participated in three games, facing defeats of 13-12 against Australia, 18-7 against England, and 17-8 against Northern Ireland.
The Seniors team emerged victorious against Catalonia with a score of 17-8, but fell short against England with a close score of 13-12.
The Masters team dominated their game against Belgium, winning with an impressive score of 20-5.
In the youth categories, the Under 23 team was defeated by England with a score of 16-9, while the under 18 team put up a valiant effort but ultimately lost 13-12 to Wales.
Lastly, the under 15 team suffered a loss of 9-6 against England.
