The 3 × 3 World Basketball Championship starts today, and the host country will be Belgium, that is, the city of Antwerp.
3 × 3 has been played for more than 70 years. The first appearance of this shortened version of basketball (played on one basket, on one half of the court) was recorded during the 50s of the last century. Basketball, first, became very popular in the United States, and gradually the “contagion” spread to the whole world, including our region.
However, only ten years ago, FIBA decided to standardize the rules and to include 3×3 in its program, which is becoming increasingly popular. Thus, the first World Cup was held in 2012 in Athens, where Serbia, led by Bulut, won the title of World Champion.
Also, Serbia won four gold medals at the World Championships out of a possible six.
