The draw for the BOV Basketball Knockout Competitions, which include the BOV Men’s First Division and the BOV Amateur League, took place at the Basketball Pavilion in Ta’ Qali. The draw was conducted by Ernest Agius, Chief Operations Officer at Bank of Valletta, and Paul Sultana, President of the Malta Basketball Association.
The BOV Amateur Knockout Competition, with 7 teams competing, will start on 15th November 2024 and the final will be held on 1st December. The BOV 1st Division Knockout, with the same number of teams, will start on 16th February 2025 and the final will be held on 2nd March 2025.
According to the MBA President, there has been an increase in interest in basketball, as seen by the growing number of participating clubs, which has now reached 14. This trend is expected to raise the level of the game, which is the ultimate goal of the Malta Basketball Association.
The partnership between Bank of Valletta and the Malta Basketball Association can be traced back to the 1970s. This year marks an important milestone for both organizations, with BOV celebrating its 50th anniversary and MBA reaching its 60th year. Mr Agius stated that both organizations have always strived to deliver at the highest level, and Bank of Valletta is proud to be drawing the fixtures for the BOV Knockout Competitions, which have the largest team pool in many years.
