The Turkish government blackmailed the head of the former center of Boston and Oklahoma, Enes Kanter, i.e. Freedom at $500,000.
The president of that country, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, offered ten million liras there for information that would lead to Kanter’s arrest.
Kanter found himself on the mentioned list because of his frequent appearances in public where he spoke about the violation of human rights in Turkey.
“I am not the only one, there are many innocent journalists, academics, athletes, and activists on that list. Their lives are in danger because of the decisions of the Turkish government”, said the American citizen now.
He currently lives in Washington, D.C., where he is constantly under security surveillance and in contact with local law enforcement, as well as the FBI.
Kanter spent 13 seasons in the NBA, and his last was in 2021/22 in the Boston jersey.
