Panathinaikos signed a guard, not Vildoza

Basketball club Panathinaikos brought in defender Dimitris Moraitis, who signed a contract for the next three years.

The talented 24-year-old guard was born in Athens, he took his first basketball steps in the development teams of Panionios, where he began his professional career.

He signed his first professional contract in 2014, and the following season he moved to AEK, where he stayed until 2019 when he “moved” to Rhodes on loan.

In 20 games, he averaged 4.8 points and 2.2 assists per game.

In the 2020/21 season, he returned to AEK and averaged 3.8 points and 1.9 assists in 16 championship games, while in the FIBA Champions League he averaged 17.9 minutes, with 5.9 points, 2 rebounds and 2 , 1 assist.

With AEK, he won the Greek Cup (2018), the FIBA Champions League title (2018) and the Intercontinental Cup (2019).

In 2021, he signed a two-year contract with Peristeri and in the 2021/22 season averaged 9.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.2 steals in 19 games of the Greek championship.

In the 2022/23 season, he averaged 7.2 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 32 games for Peristeri. All this was accompanied by Panathinaikos, which was interested in the talented defender, so they decided to bring him into their ranks.

Moraitis has been a member of the national team since he was young, starting with U16, then he played for U18 and U20. In February 2021, he was called up to the first team of the national team for the first time and participated in the qualifiers for Eurobasket 2022. He played 7 games for the national team with an average of 7.7 points per match.
