The medals for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics have been unveiled in Venice. Designed with two connected halves, they symbolise the journey of athletes and the support of those around them.
Made from recycled metals by Italy’s national mint, the medals reflect values of inclusion, tradition and sustainability. They will be produced using renewable energy and come in eco-friendly cases.
Sporting legends Federica Pellegrini and Francesca Porcellato delivered the medals by boat, highlighting Italian culture. Each medal weighs 500g and 1,146 will be made.

While some praised the simple and elegant design, others found it too plain. Online, reactions ranged from “inspiring” to “uninspired”. Athletes at the event spoke of the emotional value of medals and the people behind their success.
The Winter Olympics take place from 6th to 22nd February 2026, with the Paralympics to follow from 6th to 15th March across northern Italy.
