Ħamrun Spartans secure Italian midfielder Michele Carboni on loan

Ħamrun Spartans have strengthened their squad for the decisive phase of the Maltese Premier League season with the loan signing of Italian midfielder Michele Carboni, who joins the club until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old arrives from SEF Torres 1903, where he has been competing in Serie C, and adds technical quality and depth to Ħamrun’s midfield options ahead of the YoHealth Premier League Closing Round.

Born in Sassari, Italy, Carboni is a left-footed attacking midfielder who can also operate in a deeper midfield role.

Carboni made 11 appearances across Serie C and the Coppa Serie C this season with Torres, gaining valuable experience at senior level despite his young age. His development pathway includes spells with Cagliari’s youth teams, as well as loan experiences at Ternana and Torres, highlighting a steady progression through Italian professional football.

The move to Malta represents Carboni’s first experience outside Italy and offers him an opportunity for regular playing time in a title-contending side. For Ħamrun Spartans, the signing brings fresh energy and versatility to the midfield as the club prepares for a demanding run of fixtures in the Closing Round.

Carboni is expected to be available immediately, with Ħamrun Spartans set to face Gżira United, Naxxar Lions, and Hibernians in the coming weeks, matches that could prove crucial in shaping the outcome of their season.
