Gżira United strengthened their place at the top of the Bottom Six in the YoHealth Malta Premier, after a 3-1 win over Naxxar Lions, who remain rooted to the bottom on six points.
Gżira took the lead after half an hour when a mistake in the Naxxar defence allowed Bonilla to steal the ball and set up Becerra, who controlled well and fired into the net.
They doubled their advantage on 64 minutes after good play between Bonilla and Penha Da Costa, with Silva Virgens finishing from close range.
The goal was first disallowed for offside but then confirmed after a video review.
Naxxar pulled one back in the 84th minute when Cardoso scored directly from a corner.
Gżira sealed the win in stoppage time, as Penha Da Costa’s shot hit the post and substitute Martinez Perlaza tapped in the rebound into an empty net.
