UEFA Euro 2024 – Group A
Hungary………..1
Switzerland…..3
Hungary’s first real chance came when Roland Sallai shot over the bar. Soon after, Switzerland scored their first goal of EURO 2024. Michel Aebischer, starting on the left, moved inside and found space. He passed to Kwadwo Duah, who confidently scored past Péter Gulácsi.
Hungary was pushed back, and Switzerland seemed more likely to score. Just before half-time, after some quick passing near the box, Aebischer curled a low shot into the bottom corner.
At the break, Marco Rossi made changes, bringing on Bendegúz Bolla. Hungary responded well. Barnabás Varga, after missing a great header chance, scored by nodding in a cross from captain Dominik Szoboszlai.
The game’s pace picked up, with half-chances for both teams. Crosses flew into Switzerland’s box, but their defense held strong. Then, Switzerland secured the win. Breel Embolo, coming off the bench and back from injury, took advantage of a loose header and lifted the ball over Gulácsi.
The match ended with Switzerland taking all three points. Despite Hungary’s efforts, Switzerland’s solid defense and timely goals made the difference. The game showcased skillful play and strategic moves from both sides.
