His next rival will be Tim van Rijthovenn.
Matteo Berrettini also qualified for the second round, beating Nicolás Jarry 6:2, 6:3, 6:3 in a match that lasted almost two hours.
He will have a match against Hugo Grenier in the second round.
Stan Wawrinka could not play the whole match, when with the score 6:4, 7:6 (9:7) Sten decided to surrender to Corentin Moutet.
