After his first victory at the US Open, Russian Daniil Medvedev could not forget to mention Novak Djokovic.
The number one tennis player in the world struggled at the start, but later easily finished the first match in his favor.
-” The first match is never easy. Stefanos does not have any outstanding shot, but he is close to the Top 100. He is an excellent player, I know him since my junior days. I am very happy with the outcome and the victory,” Medvedev began.
And then the Russian was asked to comment on the arrest of American basketball player Brittney Griner in Russia.
-” I heard about it, but I don’t know all the details. Surely that situation is not easy, as it always is when someone goes to prison. It can’t really be compared to other situations, I mean let’s talk about Novak. You know that he could not enter the country for whatever reason, because of a different law. We can say: Does that law make sense? Americans can come back without a vaccine. Novak can’t come and he doesn’t want to live in America. He just wants to play a tennis tournament and return home to Serbia,” says Daniil and adds:
-” It’s the same in a way. I don’t know the exact situation, I think she had marijuana? I don’t remember exactly, but the law is the law. And if it’s not true that she had it, then I don’t know, then it’s not good. I don’t want to say what it was and what happened, so I have nothing more to add,” concluded Medvedev.
