Rafael Nadal points out that he, before anyone else, knew that Roger Federer would end his career after the doubles with him at the Laver Cup.
Federer called Rafa and told him that he would like to play the last match with him.

He announced his withdrawal, but ten days before the announcement he called me and told me what would happen. It was a difficult conversation, we spent 15 minutes talking, he told me how his last months went and he honestly explained to me the reasons for his decision. Then he told me that he would like us to play together in his last match. At that time, even he was not convinced that he would be able to play, until we spoke again, when he told me that he would be happy to play doubles. It was an important moment for him, and a great honor for me,” Rafa began and added:
Although he had many problems this season, Nadal has no intention of ending his career.
-” It will be as it must be. You can’t predict things that much, it has to go naturally, I don’t think Roger was prepared either. He had the farewell he deserved.
