LAJOVIC: What we lack are matches in front of the home crowd in our country

After Dusan Lajovic played his first match at the Davis Cup and brought victory to the “Orlovi”, he told the journalists the following.

Lajovic scored the first point for the Serbian national team, and Laslo Đere scored the second final point for victory.

“I have been playing the Davis Cup for ten years, but what we lack are matches in front of the home crowd in our country. We’ll see if there will be changes next year, given that the cooperation with Kosmos has ended – he reminded the company of Gerard Pique, the former stopper of Barcelona who initiated the current way of playing. This format is good because everything is played in one week, all three matches, so it is more like a tournament. But we miss playing in our country,” Lajovic began.

“I’m happy with the game, but it wasn’t easy. These days we trained in an empty hall, it was much less humid. With people in it, the humidity increased by ten percent, I managed to find a rhythm, I served well throughout the match.”

“I could have broken earlier, but he was lucky and hit the lines in important moments, when I had a chance to press his serve. But that’s tennis. I played the tie-break well”, concluded Dusan Lajovic.
