The only tennis player in the history of tennis who spent 400 weeks as number one on the ATP list from next Monday will be Novak Djokovic.
After his first victory in Turin, the best Serbian tennis player secured first place at the end of 2023 and it is certain that he will be on top by the end of January and the Australian Open.
However, Novak does not consider that his record is untouchable.
“Nothing is impossible. You have guys like Alcaraz, Sinner, Rune. They are very young and have many years of tennis career ahead of them with the chance to achieve top successes in this sport. That’s why never say never. In the past, something similar was said about the records held by Pete Sampras and Roger Federer. However, they were knocked down and these are normal things, because their results were additional motivation for the tennis players who came after them”, Djokovicpointed out and added:
“It is true that the 400th week at the top of the ATP list is a supreme achievement that no one has ever achieved in history. However, I wouldn’t say that this record will hold forever. I think maybe someone will knock it down, but I would like it to last as long as possible.”
Novak will meet with Jannik Sinner tonight from 9 pm.
