Matteo Berrettini withdrew from Wimbledon due to a positive test for the corona virus. The Italian sent a message to the fans on his Instagram account!
The Italian tennis player will not be able to fight for the Grand Slam title.
As I state he had symptoms the previous few days and decided to do a test this morning which was positive which resulted in an immediate withdrawal.
- My heart breaks that I have to retire from Wimbledon after a positive test for COVID-19. I have had cold symptoms for the last few days and I have been in isolation. In addition to the fact that the symptoms were not strong, I decided to repeat the testing in order to protect my colleagues and everyone else in the tournament – said last year’s finalist, so he continued.
There are no words to describe the disappointment I feel now. The dream is over this year, but I will come back stronger! Thank you all for your support – concluded Berrettini.
